Principal Aquatic Scientist
Based in Wokingham

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Ecology and Environmental Monitoring Team for a Principal Aquatic Scientist to lead on the delivery and development of our portfolio of water quality and aquatic ecology work. This is a key, client facing role where the delivery of technical expertise and an excellent client experience is essential. Reporting to the Divisional Manager, the post-holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of existing water quality and aquatic ecology monitoring contracts and be involved in the development of new opportunities and client relationships. The post will be based at our Head Office in Wokingham and will involve work across the UK and Ireland. There will also be an opportunity to supervise and develop junior members of staff. You will have at least five years practical experience of working in a water quality and/or aquatic ecology related environment, and ideally, you will have some commercial and/or regulatory experience.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate some or all of the following core capabilities:

• - Technical knowledge and capabilities in all relevant aspects of water quality monitoring;
• - Knowledge of relevant legislation and how this relates to permitting and consenting processes;
• - The ability to design monitoring programmes and write high quality technical reports;
• - Practical knowledge of industry standard water quality monitoring techniques, practices and equipment;
• - A high level of commitment to providing excellent customer service
• - Aquatic ecology knowledge and skills, which would include aspects of aquatic macro-invertebrate monitoring and ID, aquatic macrophytes, algae and diatoms for example.
• – A full UK driving licence and a willingness to work throughout the UK and Ireland primarily.
