Needs:
The person will join in the engineering department, in the framework of several national and international R&D projects.
He/she will be responsible for providing support in the pathway between materials and processes and different applications.
The person will be working in the scaling-up of new production processes for industry.

Candidates need to show evidence of the following:
- the ability to use, clean and maintain various types of equipment;
- the ability to handle and storage chemicals and other materials;
- knowledge on safety procedures;
- time management skills in order to work on several different projects at the same time;
- flexibility in order to work with and provide support for a number of people;
- excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organisation;
- experience in writing technical reports;
- teamwork skills;
- patience;
- attention to detail.


Duties & responsabilities:
The individual will be accountable for:
- Materials and processes design, R&D, management and materials prototype development;
- Development of methodologies to validate insulation capabilities;
- Study of innovative sol-gel processes for synthesis optimization and low-cost scale-up;
- Technical support in solutions and services in materials engineering;
- Technical support on bidding R&D collaborative projects.


Minimal requirements:

Academic Qualification:
MSc degree in Materials/Chemical Engineering or similar
Key technical experience:
- Knowledge in materials characterisation techniques and processes, chemistry background;
- Experience in implementing new chemical processes in industry will be strongly valorised.
Practical experience:
- Excellent organizational skills;
- 1 year experience in a lab or research environment; experience in R&D/innovation or patents;
- International experience.

Management: Management of R&D projects will be valorised
Languages: Written and spoken fluency in English and Portuguese required
Availability to go abroad: International experience will be an asset
Availability to begin in AST: 1 September 2013
Maximum compensation: TBD
