Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência
A call is now open for a research technician in the Membrane
Traffic Group, recently established at the Instituto Gulbenkian de
Ciência, Oeiras, Portugal.
1. Duration: The
position will have an initial 3-months probation period, starting in
November 2013, on the basis of exclusivity, as regulated by the
fellowships directive of the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência
(http://www.igc.gulbenkian.pt). The position can be renewed annually,
depending on performance.
2. Subject of Activities:
We are interested in how trafficking in the secretory pathway
coordinates signaling during normal physiology, and how perturbations
contribute to inflammatory disease and tissue repair. There is a
particular focus on how quality control processes in the endoplasmic
reticulum regulate signaling decisions. We focus on mammalian cell
culture and knockout mouse models.

4. Requirements:
Candidates should have a Masters degree in molecular
biology/biochemistry, or a related area. Candidates should be innovative
and have excellent organizational skills. Competency in spoken and
written English and Portuguese is essential. Prior experience with
mammalian cell culture (particularly ES cells) and/or molecular cloning
skills would be advantageous. Highly self-motivated candidates lacking
this specific experience will however be considered.
5. Monthly Stipend:
According to the regulations of the FCT Scientific Fellowships in
Portugal (€980/month + Social Security). This stipend is exempt from
national income taxation.
6. Application process:

7. Selection Procedure:
Pre-selection on the basis of CV and motivation letter. Selected
candidates will be called for interview. The final evaluation will be
based on the CV (50%), outcome of the interview (40%) and letter of
motivation (10%).
8. Application Deadline: Applications will be accepted until 8th October.
9. Notification of results: All applicants will be notified of the outcome, by email, no later than 25th October 2013.
