Recycling Advisors required in Bath and North East Somerset

Post: Recycling Advisor x3

This is an exciting project working on behalf of Bath and North East Somerset Council to motivate residents to use the food waste service and reduce the amount of food waste going to landfill. This position will give the Recycling Advisors hands on experience in behaviour change work within the environmental field as well as an opportunity to make a real difference in their local area.

We are looking for 3 advisors (including one team leader). The work involves face-to-face promotion of the food waste service with residents on their doorstep to get them using the service. All applicants should be good communicators, have a keen interest in the environment and recycling, be motivated, reliable and fit, and educated to at least ‘A’ level standard. Driver’s license is desirable. Full training will be provided.

Position details

This is a 5 month employment opportunity with a start date of Tuesday 17th September. All advisors will be expected to knock on residents doors and engage with residents about making the most of the food waste collection service and reducing their waste for 6 hours a day, 5 days per week. The working hours will be within the following times: Tuesday to Friday within the hours of 12:00 and 19:00; Saturday 10:00 and 16:00 (Extra work in the mornings may be required).The work is outdoors and will involve travel. The teams will meet in Keynsham each day before starting work.

Pay rate is £7.50/h for Recycling Advisors, and £8.00/h for the team leader, plus holiday pay.

Resource Futures will select the team leader at the training day, but if you are interested in becoming a team leader please indicate this on your application form, along with any skills you feel would make you suitable for the position.

    A short telephone interview will be conducted between Wednesday 11th and Friday 13th September to confirm those that will be invited to the training day.
    Candidates who are successfully in the telephone interview will be invited to the training and selection day on Tuesday 17th September, where the 3 advisors will be selected. The training day will be paid for those who attend, even if you are unsuccessful in the selection process. Please ensure you are available for the training day and period of work before submitting an application form.
