Professional, through its specialization line in Engineering &
Industrial, is recruiting for its client a Health Safety and
Environmental Coordinator (Offshore NEBOSH) (M/F) to Rwanda.
Key responsibilities:
• Conducts regular inspections, safety audits and hazard assessments
of works locations, workgroups, projects and individuals at the
assigned job location.
• Identifies the risk for the activities performed in each location,
in accordance with the methodology defined and assist operations staff
with eliminating or mitigating those hazards.
• Identifies the environmental aspects identified for the activities
performed on each location, in accordance with the methodology
established.
• Ensure that applicable legislation, standards or other applicable
requirements, are known and complied with, within the company.
• Guarantee that the systems planning and the necessary assessments
for the improvement of the former, takes into consideration the clients
requisites and solicitations of eventual interested parties.
• Advises the Site Manager on HSE – related matters.
• Ability to implement the principles and practices of occupational safety and health including HSE programs.
• Conducts first level investigations of worksite accidents,
injuries, prepares reports and assists with employee medical needs as
required. Ability to conduct a “root cause” analysis.
• Serves as core member of emergency response team at the work site.
• Ability to act appropriately in emergency situations.
• Understands and uses personal protective equipment, safe work practices, environmental stewardship practices and team work.
• Responds to and conducts small quantify spill containment and cleanup.
• Provides training and mentoring in HSE related topics to staff.
Ability to provide employee training using multiple delivery methods and
media.
• Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written
communication to individuals and groups of various sizes who possess a
wide range of language skills.
• Ability to interpret and effectively communicate technical
documents such as Job Safety Analysis to workers, visitors and any other
appropriate personnel.
• Ability to interact effectively with individuals in a wide range
of situations, circumstances and settings as well as the ability to work
effectively with a diverse workforce to achieve stated HSE objectives.
• Supervises other HSE technicians assigned to onshore and offshore works.
• Ability to operate a computer effectively and the ability to use Microsoft Office 2010 and other software applications effectively to manage information.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, health screening and background check.
Requirements:
• Associate Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related
field from an accredited institution, two years full time safety and/or
occupational health operations. An additional four years of relevant
experience may be substituted for the degree requirements. Offshore
certification (NEBOSH)
• Current CSP/ASP, CHST or OHST certifications
• Current 40 hours HAZWOPER with supervisor training
• Marine safety experience
• First Aid/CPR
• Documented qualifications in the following areas: fall protection,
spill response and cleanup, maritime safety, shipping of hazardous
materials/wastes, facility or industrial security.
• Understanding of OSHA standards (Occupational, Health and Safety Assessment Series) including Offshore
• Portuguese and English (Proficient user C1/C2 – Listening / Reading / Speaking)
• Computer literacy.
